Why we sell based on the weight of green coffee beans
(English only)
At Le French Roast, we believe in giving you control over your coffee experience. That’s why our pricing is based on the weight of green coffee beans, not the roasted weight. Here’s why this matters:
Roasting Changes Everything
When coffee is roasted, it loses water and mass — typically 12–20% depending on the roast level. A light roast retains more weight, while a dark roast loses more. If we priced by roasted weight, customers choosing darker roasts would pay more for the same beans, which wouldn’t be fair.
Transparency and Choice
By selling based on the green bean weight, you pay for the raw coffee you selected, regardless of the roast degree you choose. This ensures transparency and lets you explore different roast profiles without worrying about hidden costs.
Your Roast, Your Flavor
Roast level impacts taste dramatically:
- Light roast: Bright, fruity, and complex.
- Medium roast: Balanced sweetness and body.
- Dark roast: Bold, smoky, and intense.
We roast to your preference, but the beans remain the same high-quality origin you picked.
In short: Selling by green bean weight means fairness, clarity, and freedom to choose your perfect roast.
